In 1997 Alan Proto, opened the first Secret Garden Day Nursery, in Maidstone, Kent. By the end of 2002 the Secret Garden group had grown to six nurseries, caring for the children of 800 families, and employing 150 staff. In 2003 the group was sold to Asquith Court Schools.
Alan gained a degree in Economics at Cambridge University in 1988. In 1991 he qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Ernst & Young in London, before leaving to set up GML Construction, which provides modular and timber-frame buildings, largely to the education sector in the South East of England. Alan retains ownership of GML Construction, which also has a specialisation in the construction of day nursery buildings.
In 2002 Alan was a finalist in the Sunday Times sponsored
“Young Entrepreneur of the Year” awards.

Harry Hyman is the founder of Nexus Structured Finance. After graduating from Cambridge he qualified as a chartered accountant.
In 1994 Harry founded Primary Health Properties PLC, a listed company that specialises in the ownership of property leased on a long-term basis to health care providers.
He was appointed managing director following the company's flotation in 1996. He is managing director of the Nexus Structured Finance Limited, which is the holding company for a group of companies engaged in the provision of independent financial advice, and services to organisations operating in the public sector and private sectors with a particular emphasis on healthcare and property.
